Sveriges Riksbank SWEA API
Sveriges Riksbank SWEA API
Sveriges Riksbank REST API for published interest rates and exchange rates, including series metadata, observations, groups, aggregates and calculated cross-rates. JSON records expose series IDs, dates and values; anonymous requests need no key, while a free account supplies a key for higher quotas.
Required Attribution:
For unprocessed open data: "Enter source, Sveriges riksbank and date." If statistics are processed, do not state Sveriges Riksbank as the source.
Coverage
Series histories vary: the checked metadata includes the policy rate from 1 June 1994, while exchange-rate and discontinued series have their own minimum and maximum dates. Anonymous use is capped at 5 calls per minute and 1,000 per day; a registered key raises this to 200 per minute and 30,000 per week, with documented exceptions for group-observation methods.
Verdict
A Swedish monetary-policy and FX-price signal for tracking rate decisions, SEK moves and derived cross-rates. Exchange rates are indicative and the Riksbank says they should not be used for transactions. Values may contain errors or change later, and website or API updates can affect downloads. Attribution differs for unprocessed versus processed statistics, so preserve provenance and describe transformations precisely.

r = requests.get(URL, timeout=60)

Limits
- Anonymous rate limit: 5 calls per minute and 1,000 calls per day.
- Registered-key limit: 200 calls per minute and 30,000 calls per week, with stated exceptions for group-observation methods.
- Dates in the latest-by-group response are each series' latest available date and need not match.
Quirks
- The latest group response can mix current and closed series, so the returned dates span many years.
- Exchange rates are indicative and not intended for transactional use.
- Use the Series endpoint to obtain descriptions, source, group and observation minimum and maximum dates.
Terms and attribution
- Open data may be reused without special consent or agreement.
- For unprocessed data, name Sveriges Riksbank and the date; do not state Sveriges Riksbank as source after processing the statistics.
- Do not represent a service as an official Riksbank collaboration or partnership.
