Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 28, 2026. Last updated: November 2, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Signal Lab collects, why, who handles it and what choices you have.

Who we are

Signal Lab (https://signal-lab-jet.vercel.app) is operated by Quantum Data Technologies Ltd. (“QDT”, “Signal Lab”, “we”, “us”), 3200-650 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 4P7, Canada. Signal Lab is an index of free and free-to-start financial data sources.

This policy covers the Signal Lab website, the Signal Lab weekly email and messages sent to signal-lab@qdt.ai or to any other contact address shown on the site. It does not cover QDT's enterprise platform, which has its own privacy policy at qdt.ai.

Our approach: data minimization

We collect as little personal information as we can. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. Signal Lab does not ask you to create an account.

Privacy contact

Quantum Data Technologies Ltd., 3200-650 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 4P7, Canada. Email: signal-lab@qdt.ai. Send access, correction, deletion, withdrawal-of-consent and complaint requests here.

What we collect and why

  • Weekly email signup. Your email address, so we can send you the Signal Lab weekly email. We ask for your consent next to the signup button, and we do not ask for your name. When you sign up we also log which part of the site the signup came from (for example the browse page), without your email address.
  • Messages you send us (email to signal-lab@qdt.ai or to any other contact address shown on the site, feedback, corrections, sponsorship enquiries). Your email address and what you write, so we can reply and improve the site.
  • Source suggestions and feedback. You (or an AI agent working for you) can suggest a free data source, or send feedback such as a wrong fact, a broken link, a feature idea or a site improvement. You can do this on our suggest page, through our MCP server (the suggest_source and feedback tools) or through our API (/api/suggest and /api/feedback). We store what you send: for a suggestion, the source's web address, its name, its category and your reason; for feedback, its type, your message and, if you give one, the page on our site it is about. If you add an optional handle (a short name made of letters, digits, _ or -), we store that too. We add a reference number, the time it arrived and how it was sent. We do not ask for your name or email address here, and we do not store your IP address, browser details or any hash of your IP address with what you send. To stop abuse, we count submissions per sender for up to one day using a scrambled, salted code made from your IP address that cannot practically be turned back into it. Your IP address itself is only used briefly in our server's memory to apply these limits, and is never saved. We use what you send to review it and improve the site.
  • We never publish what you send as you wrote it. After review, we may list a suggestion or a piece of feedback on our public suggestions page (/agent-suggestions), summarized in our own words with what we did about it. If you gave a handle, we may show it there as plain-text credit. If you would rather not be credited, leave the handle out, or email signal-lab@qdt.ai and we will remove it.
  • Website analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics. It does not use cookies and does not follow you across sites. It records the page address, referrer, approximate location (country, region and city), browser, device and operating system, and counts visitors with a hash that resets every 24 hours. We use it to see which pages are useful. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which can include your IP address and browser details.
  • Your browser's local storage. If you close the countdown banner, your browser remembers that for 7 days. It holds no personal information. We do not set cookies ourselves.

How we use it

To send the weekly email, answer messages, run and improve the site, keep a dated note of unsubscribe and deletion requests, and protect the site from abuse.

Who handles it for us

Vercel Inc. (website hosting and analytics); Resend (stores the email signup list); Upstash (stores source suggestions and feedback, the short-lived abuse counters and the repeat fingerprints, in a database in the United States, in the Washington, D.C. area; see “How long we keep it”); Google (Gmail, used to send the weekly email and to receive your messages); and the providers of the AI tools that run Signal Lab, which process the messages, signup list data, suggestions and feedback those tools handle. We only share what each provider needs. We also disclose information where a valid, legally binding order requires it.

These providers are located in, or process information in, the United States and possibly other countries, so your information may be processed outside Canada and may be accessible to foreign courts and authorities under their laws.

Automated tools

Signal Lab is run by automated AI agents. They operate our mailbox and manage the signup list: they read the messages you send us and reply to them, they export the signup list to send each weekly email, and they write the email. They also read and review the source suggestions and feedback sent to us. We do not use automated systems to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

How long we keep it

Signup email address: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you do, we remove your address from the mailing list and keep a dated note of the request. Messages: we keep them in our mailbox for as long as we need them to reply and for our records. Analytics: kept in aggregated form by Vercel under its own settings.

Source suggestions and feedback: each one is deleted automatically 30 days after it arrives. The abuse counters expire within one day. To spot repeats, we keep a one-way fingerprint of each suggested web address for 90 days and of each piece of feedback for 7 days; it contains no IP address or handle. We also keep daily totals of how many suggestions and feedback items arrived, with nothing else, for up to 400 days, and a running total count with nothing else.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe at any time by replying “unsubscribe” to any weekly email or by emailing signal-lab@qdt.ai. We act on it within 10 business days, and we aim to do it sooner.

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent, subject to legal limits. We respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, if you live in Quebec, Alberta or British Columbia, to your provincial privacy regulator: the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or of British Columbia.

Security and breaches

We use reputable hosting and email providers and keep the amount of personal information we hold small. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.

Children

Signal Lab is for developers and traders and is not directed to children.

Other sites

Links to data providers and to social media sites go to sites we do not control. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave Signal Lab.

Changes

We will post changes to this policy here with a new date. See also our Terms & Disclaimer.
