NYSE Group publishes its consolidated short interest report as legacy .xls workbooks on ftp.nyse.com, filed by year and month. Each report gives, per settlement date, the total current and revised previous short interest and the number of securities with a short position (and with positions of 5,000 shares or more) for NYSE, NYSE American, NYSE Arca and the NYSE Group total.

Coverage

Exchange-level totals only, not per-security short interest: the Oct 26, 2026 file had four rows (NYSE, NYSE American, NYSE Arca, NYSE Group) for the Oct 15, 2026 settlement date. Twice-monthly reports in month folders from August 2015 to November 2026 (checked Nov 5, 2026); the current/ folder was empty. NYSE Group includes NYSE, NYSE American, NYSE Texas and NYSE Arca per the file footnote.

Verdict

This is a market-wide short positioning signal for agents tracking aggregate short interest across NYSE Group venues over time. It does not give short interest by stock; per-security data needs another source. Files are legacy Excel (.xls) with a title block above the header row. Reuse falls under NYSE/ICE terms, so check them before automated or commercial use.
