Office of the Federal Register API
Office of the Federal Register API
The Office of the Federal Register exposes rules, proposed rules, notices and presidential documents through JSON and CSV endpoints. Records include document number, type, title, agencies, abstract, publication and effective dates, CFR references, docket or regulation identifiers and links to text or PDFs; no key is needed.
Coverage
The document search covers Federal Register documents published since 1994 and reflects the U.S. federal daily publication. Search pages return at most 1,000 documents per request, with filters for dates, agencies, document types, CFR references and other fields.
Verdict
This API gives a regulatory-event signal for new U.S. rules, proposals, notices and presidential actions that may affect companies, sectors or operations. Publication, signing, effective and comment-close dates describe different stages and should remain separate. FederalRegister.gov is an unofficial edition, so use the linked official PDF when the legal text controls. Search begins in 1994, and documents can later receive corrections or related-document links.
