Canadian Ice Service ice charts and conditions
Environment and Climate Change Canada's Canadian Ice Service (CIS) publishes daily ice forecasts, charts and graphs for Canada's navigable waters — Arctic Ocean, Western Arctic, Eastern Arctic, Hudson Bay, East Coast and Great Lakes — plus ice science, ice climatology, a CIS archive of historical ice charts and 30-year climate-normal ice charts.
Coverage
Canadian navigable waters including the Arctic, Hudson Bay, East Coast and Great Lakes. Ice information updates daily in areas of known marine activity, and weekly (from regional charts issued at the end of the day every Wednesday) in remaining Canadian waters; historical archive depth is not stated on the checked page.
Verdict
This is a sea-ice signal for Arctic, Hudson Bay, St. Lawrence/East Coast and Great Lakes shipping routes — season opening/closing and icebreaker-escort risk — useful next to NSIDC's global Sea Ice Index. Canada.ca's Terms say materials may be reproduced for non-commercial purposes without charge, but "you may not reproduce materials on this site, in whole or in part, for the purposes of commercial redistribution without prior written permission"; Signal Lab links to the official pages and does not redistribute charts commercially.
