ACLED conflict event data
⚠️ Non-commercial use only: AI and commercial restrictions
ACLED's End User License Agreement says:
“Commercial entities may not access or use the Content and/or Platforms without first obtaining a corporate license from the Licensor.”
“Uses Content as training data, embeddings, or knowledge-base input for any model or system, regardless of whether the output is competitive with ACLED's products or services, without ACLED's express prior written consent.”
Source: ACLED End User License Agreement (EULA) (checked Nov 1, 2026). This isn't legal advice.

ACLED conflict event data
ACLED publishes disaggregated records of political violence, demonstrations and selected strategic developments as JSON or CSV, with event dates, actors, event types, locations, coordinates, fatalities, source names and precision fields. The API and export tools require a free myACLED account, with OAuth tokens for programmatic access.
Required Attribution:
“ACLED as the source of the data must be clearly and prominently acknowledged.” Include the access date, filters and any manipulation or amendments.
Coverage
ACLED completed worldwide geographic expansion in 2022, while country start dates vary and the earliest listed coverage begins in January 1997. Events are coded in real time and published weekly, with corrections and supplemental data added later. API responses default to at most 5,000 events, so larger results need pagination.
Verdict
This is a geocoded conflict and protest signal for tracking security conditions around assets, routes and markets. Event dates, actors, locations, fatalities and source fields support time-series and exposure analysis, but ACLED is a living dataset and records can be corrected or supplemented. Reporting availability, source access and spatial or temporal precision create uneven coverage and lag. Commercial entities need a corporate licence, and embeddings or knowledge-base ingestion require ACLED’s express prior written consent.
