World Bank Documents & Reports API
⚠️ Terms restrict commercial use and derivative works
The World Bank Group Terms and Conditions (linked as Legal from the Documents & Reports site) say, for Materials without their own specific terms:
“For the remainder of the Materials, you may make non-commercial uses thereof, but you may not make any derivative work or commercial use, including without limitation reselling them, charging to access them, charging to redistribute them, or charging for derivative works based on them, without the prior written consent of the relevant member institution(s).”
“For use of the APIs in connection with other Materials, you may use the APIs to facilitate certain non-commercial uses of the Materials in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. However, you may not in any event use the APIs to facilitate commercial uses of the Materials, including without limitation reselling them, charging to access them, charging to redistribute them, or charging to create derivative works based on them.”

World Bank Documents & Reports API
The World Bank Documents & Reports API searches and retrieves records for the public World Bank documents on its Documents & Reports site, returning JSON or XML. Queries can match words across core fields or target fields such as title, country, language, document type and date range, with facets, sorting and paging, and each record links to the document page and PDF; no key is needed.
Required Attribution:
Required format: "The World Bank Group authorizes the use of this material subject to the terms and conditions on its website, Legal."
Coverage
Public World Bank documents available on Documents & Reports, with fields such as document date, document type (for example Board Report or Procurement Plan), country, language, abstract, report number and links to the PDF and document page. Results default to 10 rows per page. Publication delay: Not stated.
Verdict
Use it to track World Bank country reports, debt sustainability analyses, project documents and policy research as a grey-literature signal for sovereign and development-finance work. Terms restrict use: the World Bank Group Terms and Conditions let the APIs be used only to facilitate certain non-commercial uses of Materials that have no specific terms of their own, and bar derivative works and commercial use of those Materials without prior written consent. They say any specific terms appear on the pages through which the Materials are accessible, so check a document's own page before reuse. Signal Lab links only.
