New York Fed GSCPI
New York Fed GSCPI
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Global Supply Chain Pressure Index combines transportation costs and manufacturing indicators into a monthly gauge of global supply-chain conditions. Keyless CSV and Excel downloads provide dates, index values and release vintages, allowing revisions to be compared without an API key.

Coverage
The monthly series starts in September 1997 and is updated at or shortly after 10:00 a.m. on the fourth business day of each month. The provider currently warns that publication uses limited data because necessary inputs are suspended and says regular publication will resume when all series are available.
Verdict
A compact macro signal for whether global supply chains are under more or less pressure than normal. It can contextualize freight, inventory, manufacturing and inflation-sensitive activity, but it is monthly and arrives after the observed period. Values are revised across release vintages, so store both observation month and vintage rather than overwriting history. The provider's limited-data warning means recent readings are not fully comparable with normal-production releases, and the index is not an official New York Fed estimate.

CSV vintage matrix with Date as the observation month and one index-value column per monthly release vintage. The last column is the latest available vintage.

Limits
- Download rate limit: Not stated.
- The series is monthly and normally updates on the fourth business day of each month.
- The checked Oct-26 vintage contains 349 non-null observations from September 1997 through September 2026.
Quirks
- The CSV is a revision triangle rather than a two-column series; selecting the last column loads the latest vintage, while melting all columns preserves the revision history.
- Observation dates are month-end labels, and the release vintage is usually the following month.
- The page carries a limited-data warning caused by suspended inputs, so preserve that status with recent releases.
- The GSCPI is a standardized pressure index, not a freight price, shipment count or official New York Fed estimate.
