Global Energy Monitor Gas Infrastructure

Global Energy Monitor publishes project-level gas transmission pipeline and LNG import/export terminal data as Excel, GeoJSON, GeoPackage and shapefile downloads. Records cover project phases, owners, status and location or route geometry, and the download form needs no account or key.

"Global Gas Infrastructure Tracker, Global Energy Monitor, [release date]."

Coverage

The tracker is worldwide and aims to cover all LNG import/export terminals plus gas transmission pipelines longer than 100 km, while also adding shorter proposed and under-construction lines. Distribution, gathering, storage-only and bunkering facilities are excluded, and smaller or older-status pipelines can be incomplete. The database is updated annually; the page lists November 2025 for pipelines and October 2026 for LNG terminals.

Verdict

This is an asset-level capacity and route signal for planned gas supply, LNG trade infrastructure, construction and retirement risk. Project status, ownership, location and estimated route can support regional capacity and bottleneck features. Routes may be approximated, terminal coordinates may be marked approximate, and coverage of shorter, idle, cancelled or retired pipelines is less complete. Releases are annual rather than live, and reuse requires CC BY 4.0 attribution.
